Student Council - Mrs. Susan Bousquet, Advisor

September is election month for St. Stans Student Council.  We will begin with the selection of the officers—President, Vice-President, Secretary, Treasurer, and Activities Coordinator.  These positions have been traditionally held by eighth graders.  Following the elections, class representatives and alternates will be chosen by homerooms in grades four to eight.

Please consider running for office.  We need hard-working, dedicated students to make this a great year.  Be advised that meetings are held in the mornings at 7:45 A.M. on the average of once or twice a month. Officers meet more often.  Attendance is mandatory.

Some of the events we are planning include the Thanksgiving Food Drive, the lollipop sale, Coats for Kids, and Catholic Schools’ Week.

We look forward to your input and ideas.

Band and Choir - directed by Mr. Joey Smola

Practices are Wednesdays from        in the Music Room.  Our band and choir provides the music for all of our school masses and prayer services.  They have also participated in many school and community events, such as the Benefactor's Reception, School Christmas Concert and Grandparents Day, the Memorial for September 11 at Szot Park, and the Elms College Holiday Concert.  They have completed the recording and producing their own CD, entitled "Red, White, and Blue" which features an original song written and performed by the band and choir of St. Stanislaus School.  They were commended for their accomplishment by a letter from President Bush along with a picture of he and his wife at the White House.

This CD is available for a donation to the school of $10 through our school office at 534 Front Street, Chicopee, or by calling the school office (592-5135) during the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m.

Performing Arts - directed by Mrs. Bousquet and Mrs. Sheaff

Club of St. Stanislaus School concluded its year of performances with a trio of "Fractured Fairy Tales."  All thirty - five members of the troupe participated in several performances for the students, in Grades 1 to 8, parents, and teachers.

In "two Pigs, a Wolf and a Mud Pie," we watched the journey of the three pigs and a wolf in a fairy tale forest.

In "Cinderella Outgrows the Glass Slipper," the cast helped the Prince find Cinderella and helped Cinderella find her dream job.

The final performance was our very own "Fairy Tale News Hive," broadcasting from Channel 543.  Our news anchors and reporters presented the latest scoop on the newsmakers in fairy tale land!!!

And, of course, Little Mermaid charmed the audience, once again!

A special thank you to all who helped us enjoy this year!!!

See you in September!!!

The Performing Arts Club is open to students in grades four to eight.  We meet on Monday afternoons from 2:45 to 4:00 P.M.  Performances are scheduled several times during the school year, usually beginning with the Christmas concert.  Permission slips will be available in the middle of September.  Join us and share you talent.

Newspaper Club - directed by Ms. Schweitzer

St. Stanislaus School newspaper club will meet once per month in our school library.  Students in grades 4 through 8 are invited to join.  They learn the aspects of producing a school newspaper from the idea and interview stage, to the final printing and distributing process.  Parents of our school children will receive a copy of this newspaper entitled "This Just In!"

Come join us in having fun!
